How to properly use Glyptal
I have a couple cans of Glyptal , Is it really necessary to bake it at all or is it suitable to apply to the internals of a cleaned engine and not be concerned about it turning loose and causing problems ?

Glyptal Red Brush On 1 qt -
$48.99 Eastwood Co. > https://www.eastwood.com/glyptal-red-brush-on-1-qt.html Seals uneven surfaces in engine castings to improve oil circulation. Application Glyptal is used to seal the internal surfaces of the engine block for fastest oil return to the sump. Make sure the surface is absolutely FREE OF GREASE OR OIL! Our Metal Wash concentrate (10120) or PRE Painting Prep (10041 Z) with the Engine Brush Kit (46035) does a great job of cleaning the engine block. Be careful to avoid getting paint on machined surfaces or in oil passage ways. Can be thinned with Xylol or Xylene

Brushed on, it also works like a charm on '32 aluminum oil pans which are porous enough to actually sweat oil. As noted, however, absolutely clean surfaces are a must.

Re: How to properly use Glyptal
I use a heat lamp to help "bake" the parts as they dry. I move it around during the process. You'd be surprised how hot they get parts

Re: How to properly use Glyptal
I've used Glyptol several times and each time i've used it, i baked it per instructions. The result was hard as glass. I'm getting ready to do the engine cases on my '48 Indian.

Re: How to properly use Glyptal
Is it necessary at all internally? Wouldn't it be a layer of insulation from the oil, which might be useful for cooling the block as the oil runs over parts and into the pan?

Re: How to properly use Glyptal
It has been used for years in high performance engines to increase the flow of oil over surfaces back to the oil pan. Is it needed in a mild built flathead, probably not, but that applies to a lot of things! I use it.

Re: How to properly use Glyptal
I already have it so I may as well use it or toss it out in the disposal site. true Probably not needed but it may help keep the sludge from sticking.
