41Theads on a 4"stroke x 3.125
I recently snagged a set of N.O.S heads for a 41T engine , I done the search on here and turned up nothing, I may not have my facts straight ,but as I remember my late father talking about using 41T heads on a stock car to boost compression . anybody here have any input on the matter ?Thanks ,Fordestes

According to a chart I found online, 41T heads have a volume of 62 cc's. On a 3.125" X 4" engine it gives a compression ratio of8.03 to 1.

If they are the heads I think they are, they look like they are filled. We tried them on a race car back in the 60s . No great results and a lot of heating.

I never had very good results by using filled heads , when we were kids we tried filling a set of mercury heads , when we needed transportation the most the fill material fell out and wiped out the engine. the aftermarket had compression increasers that one could weld in place , we used plain old brazing rod instead, I still have one compression increaser I found a while back, just a picture from days gone by .

Re: 41Theads on a 4"stroke x 3.125
Back up the bus a bit! I dug out my burette and 41T head I have and measured a chamber. it came out to 84.5 cc's! So much for that online chart!
I had set these 41T heads aside years ago because I thought the chambers looked awfully deep. They might breathe a little better at high RPM, but compression? Forget about it! |

The 59AB heads are the best for cooling and compression IMHO.

Here is the Ford chart. I think the 81AS heads are the ones you need for higher compression?
