Default carburetor on 8ba

This carb came on my 41 with 8ba engine. I tried to fit the air cleaner that fits my 37 motor but it is too small.

What kind of carb do I have here and what is likely on my 37? Any recommendations on a carb rebuilder?

Your '37 should have a Stromberg 97 on it....

look on the other side of the float bowl and see if any number/letters are there
8BA 49-53
59 46-48
21 29 late 41-42
91 99 29-41
there were a few other numbers/letters on 53 merc with at trans
if it was a holley it would be written on the bowl

Tex,
Your '37 air cleaner should fit the 94. Most likely the diameter of the air
cleaner neck on the air horn is worn undersize, happens all the time. I have a bunch
of NOS air horns if you are interested.

Look at the back of the float bowl, see if it says 94--1--1-3/16 the real big trucks had a big carb CFM, the air horn and choke was bigger. Walt

Interesting Walt,
I have one of the big puppy's with the V clamp air horn (truck style air cleaner) and yes the bore of the air horn and the choke butterfly are indeed bigger the a regular 94, but the outside dimension of the air horn, the V shaped clamp part is the same size as my 8RT carb, in other words the stock 8RT air cleaner fits on the big one.
The pictured carb is obviously a car style air horn, did these have a bigger outside dimension the the regular 94 car style air horn?
Just to muddy the water a bit, I have come across some 94's that have a slightly small air horn outside dimension than standard, a stoke Ford car style air cleaner doesn't fit, and won't clamp on the horn. Never worked out why or where these odd ball ones came from.
Martin.

Hi Scooter. I have 3 of those big puppy's, I've heard there 225 CFM, not sure, I installed 3 of them on a 3 carb intake on my 40 a few years ago, why to much, somewhere around 675 CFM, BUT, the 4 97's on my 40 are perfect, direct linkage, just like one carb. Walt
