Default How Much Snow Did You Get Here In New England??

Hey, we put the chains on the Stoddard - Dayton Speed Car and went to McNeils Grocery Store and stocked up, but we only got 12" in Vermont. Still having high winds though, if they do not knock out the power we will be all set.

How much snow did the rest of you get and where??

Here is a link to some neat old Nor'easter photos. And here to learn all about Nor'easter's

Dunno' the wind is still blowing too hard and it is still coming down. I have spots around the corner of the barn where I can see the ground, but I can't see my car just 20 feet away. Local news says 2 feet with drifts up to 6 feet.

Same here in central CT, 3 1/2' drift at back door, had great trouble getting it open. Dog tried to go out, turned around and came back in. Gov has closed ALL roads in the state. I haven't seen a plow since 10 last night. Not going to be a quick clean up, that's for sure.

Here in very-southern New England, we got just about a foot. I would love to take the Model A out in it, but she is down with exhaust troubles. Oh well...

WOW....Here is what the NY times has up on their site and you can read much more there.

The storm pounded New England overnight and instead of dissipating, it only seemed to gain strength by Saturday morning, with snow blowing horizontally. Forecasters said that in some areas, snow had accumulated at the astonishing rate of four inches per hour, creating whiteout conditions. Boston had more than two feet.

More than 400,000 homes were without power, leading to potentially dangerous conditions since the temperature in Boston was minus 4 degrees. Many roads were impassable, prompting cities and towns to send special vehicles to pick up people to take them to warming centers and regional shelters.

The National Weather Service said that “wind gusts as high as 70 mph are possible, creating blizzard conditions that will make travel hazardous, if not impossible.” Boston reported winds as high as 58 miles per hour late Friday night, by which time the roadways, including Interstate 93, were deserted.

While the forecasters had initially predicted that Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket would be particularly hard it, the islands were mostly drenched in rain because of the warmer ocean temperatures. But the Cape and islands recorded some of the highest wind gusts, with those in the town of Buzzards Bay reaching 71 miles per hour. Winds on Nantucket reached 59.

I'm about 15 miles in from the seacoast, but I can't really tell how much we have.On most of the flats the snow is level with the top of my plow, two feet. Then the ground is bare, then it is as high as the truck.I just saw that we should get a few more inches then it will wind down.If it had been wet snow I would have had to start plowing at 4 PM yesterday, and stay with it.With the cold it is fluffy and light,I can push it,there is just a lot of it.I have 19 places I plow, plus when it is like this I pick up 5-10 more for one time.Peoples plows, tractors, snowblowers break,or they normally shovel but find $30.really isn't much to pay to sit in the house and look out the window. My road isn't plowed yet,so the town is having problems right now.One of the town guys called to ask if my Bobcat was available,I told them it was in the garage with the key in it.Sounds like theirs is broken.Around midnight a few of the boys plowing for the state got sidelined, they had no clue where they were going. They couldn't even see the backsides of their plows from the drivers seats.I Know the feeling well.It is pretty scarey, you lose all sense of direction, right, left,up down,if you keep picking something up and dropping it your senses will come back once up and down is established. You also feel like you are the only the only person left in the world.

A foot I guess, enough to kill my weekend plans. Rent a van, pick up a chassis, attend a "Garage Night" at a shop in New York state. Enterprise closed early yesterday and isn't open today. Maybe next year for the get together, and next weekend for the frame, I'd been looking forward to this trip for well over a month. Bob

We got 32 cm (almost 13") with drifts up to 4'. I think that the US east coast got it a lot worse than that. The Maritimes in Canada is getting pounded as we speak.

Driveway is blown out and shovelled and we have a very nice day here.

Does anyone own a Model A snow track? You guys sure can use it. You had your share of rain, floods, snow ,wind and when this melts, more flooding. my hearts out to everyone on the east coast.
