Default New 39 owner Nz/Australia

Hi my names Jon

Thought I may as well introduce myself and my car.

I'm a kiwi living in Australia for the past 11 years

The car is a 39 coupe deluxe and it belonged to my father.

He was a member of the Nz early ford v8 club and so growing up I joined my parents on many club runs and event's

The car has just been imported into Australia and should be on the road soon.

Can anyone tell me a good place to get parts in Australia?

Neat looking car. I used to have one that looked much the same when I lived in NZ many moons ago.

The best place to buy Early Ford parts in Australia is on the internet in the USA. Very little avalible locally

Thanks for the kind words.

KiwinUS,im form Te Awamutu(Waikato).

The green pickup is a 45 jailbar I think it now lives some where in the south Island.

As for the 39 it was rebuilt in 1980 my dad purchased the car in 1998 not much has changed since then.

Are you Cactus' boy ?
If so I think that car was restored by Dave Locke in Shannon.
He did a good job.
Regards,
Chris.NZ.
New Plymouth.
Kyle from C&G Ford parts and Dick Spadaro are both good for V8 parts in the USA.

SwoopNZ,Yes i'm Cactus's youngest Son and yes Dave Locke did the resto.

The 39 was always my favourite and was the first one Dad ever let me drive.

I did order sum things off the early ford store in the states but the freight was just as much as the item's.

Thanks I'll give those other stores a go.

Welcome.. Join a club and you might get some parts through the guys, otherwise get it straight from the good ol' USA.

That is a real nice 39. I remember when this car was restored by Locke...it got respect for the quality job. I'm sorry about your dad but you are one lucky bugger to get this car of his. I saw the others for sale up on Trade me but this 39 is the "bees knees"......By way welcome to the Barn.

GB

PS: I'll second Swoop on C& G for spares. Great people to deal with, great service and they will always ship to you at the cheapest possible rate.

Thanks,I chose this car based on sentimental reason's.

While its a very nice car there are a few things that need attention. The back half of the car has a few crows feet so I would like to give it a lick of paint at sum stage.new rubber seals etc etc.

Hello Jon, Welcome to the world of the 39 coupe ,I imported mine from North Carolina around 24 years ago as a project ,I tore it apart body off, everything off and got into classic bikes and the old 39 sat there partly worked on till about 2 years ago,i,m almost finished now and I,m really pleased with how its looking ,I,v had quite a few hiccups along the way and spent a small fortune on shipping stuff from usa ,the postage is eye watering and they sting you big time over here for tax and handling ,good old rip off U.K. the barn has been a life saver with questions from me and I felt a bit dim with some of the questions I asked which I felt was probably obvious (but not to me ) and answered without making me feel a lemon.
I,v used most suppliers over the course for the 39 and also my 51 F1 pickup imported last year from Illinois and probably C&G was at the top and I,v had no problems with Dennis Carpenter . It looks a nice car and good luck and I,m sure much pleasure to be had with it , cheers Jim.

When sending stuff to Australia or NZ ask them to send via the US Postal Service ( USPS )
Great service and reasonable charges compared to UPS or Fed EX.
