The difference on the late 1951 engines is the rotator type valves that came some time in early 1951. They are same as Ford for the most part. The C8CM indicates Canadian Mercury but that won't make any difference since they were the same basic engines between Dearborn and Windsor.

I have done mostly A and 59 ab engines. how do you tell the different years. by the valve keeper. there is nothing on the surface under the intake except for some random z's, other marks

The engines are basically the same but the valve train in '51 has a rotator keeper assy. that also uses a shorter spring.
