Default Top of Window Sponge Rubber Installation on '29 Closed Cab Pickup

Hey all,

My wife noted that the Model A Pickup was a little drafty, so I've recently attempted to correct that. The rubber sponge that goes into the top of the window was missing from both doors, so I bought some. The description does say closed car, I presume it is also supposed to be there for a closed cab pickup? I installed it on the passenger side door no problem, just cut it to length and shoved it up into the top of the door. However, on the driver's side the door must be a bit wider and the sponge won't stay in the top of the door when the window is rolled down. There are some screws along the top of the door, if I tighten those will that gap shrink? Can I use a dab of adhesive to hold it up?

glue them in, 3m weatherstrip adhesive, etc. and roll up windows to keep them in place until adhesive sets
