Default oil pressure gauge question

Where is the best place to connect the oil line to the A engine for a pressure gauge. The gauge reads to 5 lbs. Thanks, Bill

Remove the small plug on the right side of the engine below the oil cover

The plug in the side of the block just under the valve cover. It takes a pipe thread fitting. I think it's 1/8 inch pipe, could be 1/4".

There is a plug on the side of the block right above the oil pump. I think this is the only place to hook up an oil pump.

Hmm, plug below the oil cover, under the valve cover, above the oil pump. Three descriptions for the same plug? Does anyone have a photo?

Thx

All 3 are pointing to the same place.

RH side of the engine, an inch or 2 above the oil pan, directly in the center of the engine, small - 1/8"NPT fitting

Here is the hook up on my 31 tudor. The carb blocks the view of the fitting but it is mid way just above the oil pan and has a straight screw slot. When you remove this screw try to find a screw driver that the blade just fits. I ran a metal line around the front and back the left side of the engine. I run the oil line up the steering column and connects to the oil pressure gauge that mounts to the steering column clamp. I ran the tubing around the front of the engine to keep the oil line away from the heat of the exhaust manifold and pipe. The tubing that came with mine was plastic. I didn't want to use plastic so I used copper. I'm not recommending that anybody use copper. I know that steel tubing would be the most recommended choice.I used copper gas lines in the sixties and never a problem. I've been running this one for 13 years on my 31 tudor The only gas line that I ever had to crack was a steel line going to the rear carburetor on our roadster.

What's the normal range of pressure on these engines?

When cold about 10 psi, warmed up 2 to 3 psi.

If you are getting 5lbs you have it in the right place. These engines are splash and drip lubricated;

"Your Model A engine is a four-cylinder in line engine known as an "L Block". It uses 4 spark plugs that explode in a combustion chamber to power the engine. The engine is oiled by a circulating splash system, which while delivering oil to the valve chamber allows the oil by gravity to flow to each of the main bearings of the engine. The lower part of the engine or the crankcase has troughs for the oil that allow the oil to "splash" from oil dippers to the other parts of the engine that need lubricating..."
