Thanks John, I had one of those, it didn't even last through the first gear oil change... I don't know, maybe it was operator error... (wouldn't be the first time LOL ) I'll give it another try...

Hello Vic. I have one of those retro looking small ketchup squeeze bottles, made the opening a little larger and use that for adding gear oil. The smaller size makes it pretty easy. Steve

Yes, we know the source of the leak, and we will fix it before we fill the transmission again. Just trying to make the refill job easier...

Prospects for good weather (sunshine) are slim for this weekend so, I'll be focusing my attention on the '39 CS steering box rebuild. I've had the column lock soaking in solvent, to try and loosen up the two small screws. Hopefully I'll be able to remove them so I can relocate the part on the new shaft... Should be fun...

Now that approaches sacrilege. But still FUNNY.

I'm thinking about turning one of my Flatheads into an Amphicar ... We have had a little bit of rain in the last two days...

The hits (rain) just keep on coming... This tree, next to the garage, uprooted and fell, away from the garage thankfully however, it also did some damage to the septic system... The rain isn't expected to let up until the 11th of August... I sure hope no more trees fall...

Ugh! It just doesn't want to let up, does it. Seems like its been raining for weeks now and more to come. Usually it gets real bad every time I open the garage.

Maybe some gator tail soup would be the ticket! Stay safe and dry Vic!

and it literally just started pouring here again while writing this.....

I know, it is really getting old... I think we'll go out for some blackened Gator Tail tonight... Should be real fresh... We may have to swim back to the house... LOL

You try to stay dry as well.

Just in case you were wondering what the Cigar City Flatheads do on rainy Saturdays... Here, some of us are helping Mike install a 'Y' Block, he just built, into a '55 T-Bird... Mike found a baby squirrel in the garage so we went up to the local Wall-Mart for some Kitten Formula, to feed our new mascot. We messed with the 'Y' block for a while, and decided it was time for PIZZA... Cliff took us to a Pizza place, not far from where the '55 T-Bird lives, and Mike treated us. Back at the garage, we squeezed the 'Y' block into the Birds engine bay... It wasn't a Flathead, but we still had fun. Thanks to Mike, Cliff and Keith for an enjoyable day.

I got a little bit more done on the '39 Ford CS steering box rebuild today. I had to have a few things machined, before we could reassemble the unit. We put the new worm gear and shaft in the steering box, using all new bearings and races however, we used the original roller gear and shaft unit. The inner diameter of the 'new' NOS... worm and shaft was smaller than the OEM shaft however, not enough to cause a problem. The headlight/horn rod still fit so, we are good to go for reassembly and installation. I had to make a gasket for the oil filler and adjustment plate. I topped of the gear box with Corn Head grease and primed and painted the unit. Hopefully, this weekend we'll install the steering box, make final adjustments and go for a cruise (if the rain stops...) Here are a few photos of the fun...

Hey, send it to Georgia. Save cross country shipping.
