Default Getting started at last

I am abount to continue a journey I started almost 40 years ago. (I'm 54) As a kid I took apart a 36 fordor with trunk to have it painted. The car was all original except for headers and dual carbs. Long story short, painter got tired of project and it has set for all these years as you see in the picture. That is about to change. I plan a full resto-rod restoration. At this time in the planning stages I have two questions for your consideration. 1, Should I keep mechanical brakes or go juice? The car will keep its original motor setup. 2, I want to lower the front end a little. Can I keep the 36 wheels, go with juice brakes and still lower the front? I know simple questions for most of you but hey, after 40 years and its still not together that says something about my skills. But at least I still have it!

I'm still running mechanicals on my '35 fordor slant sedan. They work pretty well if kept adjusted properly. Most folks do not know how to correctly adjust mechanical brakes and keep them adjusted, hence the bad rap that mechanical are no good. If you use FlatheadTeds equalizers they will work even better. You can keep your '36 wheels if you stay with mechanicals or go with hydraulics and also lower the car some. This is one of the best forums to ask questions. Lots of knowledgeable folks here that don't mind answering questions. Git 'er done! Good luck!
