Default 1938 std coupe hood adjustment

I want to raise the hinge end by about 4mm to line up the side trim but the hinge is on a vertical part of the bulkhead & the holes not slotted. Any ideas?

If '38 hood hinges are the same as '37, you may have to slot the holes slightly, specially if they are aftermarket hinges. You need to be able to sort of "rock/rotate" the hinge body slightly. The hinges for '38 appear to be slightly different on the pictures I can see, but the principle is likely the same.

1/4" is the correct size bolts for the front 2.
This may help.
A lot of folk use 5/16" bolts which gives little room for up and down adjustment.

Are you sure the holes in the cowl are not slotted?
