Normally I grease around 400 to 500 mls interval. For that one normally give 5 to 6 pumps on the grease gun. Got to use a bit of faith here as you are aware not able to see excess squeeze out at at king pins or steering. Sometimes resistance on grease gun lever can indicate if space is full. Phil NZ |

Pump it until the grease comes out of the road draft tube

Re: 39 coupe grease
Here is what that drive shaft center bearing looks like. It doesn't hold a lot of grease, perhaps 1 or 2 squirts. Look carefully and you can see the leather seal on each side of the bearing. Very easy for grease to squirt through it.Too much grease will damage the rubber cushion by dissolving it.
I would use the same fiber grease used on the rear wheel bearings. First 2 photos show center bearing with dissolved rubber casing removed. Next 2 photos shows what I removed from my torque tube. The metal bearing is in that pile of "goo". Last photo is center bearing remove/install tool. I had rear end fluid leaking into the torque tube which, i am sure, also added to the center bearing problem. Last edited by 19Fordy; 03-29-2019 at 05:46 PM. |
