Canister oil filter question
Ok guys I feel silly asking this question does a canister oil filter work off pressure, meaning does the pressure from the pumped in oil on the inlet side of the canister force the oil thru the filter and down the return line? I finally got my canister installed today that I picked up this summer at a swap meet, once all my plumbing was done, I poured oil in the canister set my filter in,put some oil around the sealing gasket on the lid tightened her up and fired it up,I've got good oil pressure around 50 pounds,I just didn't know if the return was mainly by gravity or if it does indeed get a pressure assist.
Thanks for y'all's help! Leroy Last edited by Thaplumbr; 10-26-2013 at 06:07 PM. Reason: Spelling |

Re: Canister oil filter question
oil is forced through the filter and back to the pan by pressure created by the pump. there is a restrictor orifice in the filter system that lets about 10% of the oil pass through the filter
