Default accelerator linkage

Is it possible to remove accelerator linkage assembly while engine is in the vehicle (30 Tudor). I have the head off & can't seem to find a way to remove assembly, no matter which way I try to take it out it hangs up on the firewall or the block/flywheel housing. Mine has developed slippage in it & I've lost some of the full travel on the carb side as compared to the pedal side.

Did you remove the wood toe board? I've removed them before, but it was a long time ago, and I'm thinking I might have slipped it down and out through the toe board area.

If I recall correctly you must remove the upper floor board, hold the throttle down fighting the spring, and tilt it back and under the bottom of the firewall.

Yes you can. Remove the angled floorboard first like the others mentioned. You can then remove the 2 large bolts through the linkage into the block. You may need to push the movable part around some to ease it out. I just did this a couple months ago. My car is a 28 coupe, but I think all model A's are much the same. Not all that hard.

Yes I have the floor boards out & of course the two mounting bolts. I struggled for about 1/2 hour and now as long as i know it should be able to be removed I'll get her out eventually! Thanx for the insight, guys.

Like Marco said, you need to hold the rod against the spring pressure. From your description it sounds like a pin sheared on the arm, so you may also need to reposition it to remove the assembly.

Thanx for the tips everyone. Got it off & found there was about 1/4" rotation play in the shaft from the pedal side to the carb. side. Someone has repaired the joint with a pop rived and it was too soft to hold the shaft to the outer cast bracket assembly & there was also a nasty bend in the shaft on the pedal side, just had to straighten it, drill it out & peen a new pin it it, should give me full movement & a more positive idle stop. Should have replaced the return spring but didn't think of it until I had reassembled it. It's hell to get old, forget too quickly now!!
