Default radiator hoses bob drake 1933 model B

I ordered a new set of radiator hoses from Bob Drake after my lower radiator hose broke. These new hoses are half as thick as my existing hoses, which I believe were from Bob Drake. Maybe I have to forget about the red stripe and just order quality hoses from NAPA, "which I believe are made in Mexico"
Any suggestions?

Be sure to let Bob Drake know, maybe send them back.

Just called Bob Drake. They said they are not making any more hoses for model B fords!
Once their stock is sold that is it. Don't know anything about the thickness..all are made to original specs....
I guess there goes another supplier.

Also, what is the real story about those horrible "authentic" hose clamps....
They could not have been made this badly in 1933. I will have to use normal well made Radiator hose clamps.

After fighting the installation of those "red stripe" hoses made by 'Vintique', I elected to buy hose in bulk from NAPA for my '34 and I'm very pleased I did. Of course I had to cut the hose to the length required for the application which was no big deal. The NAPA hose material is very pliable and easy to install. The lack of a "red stripe" is of no importance to me.

Do you still use those horribly made authentic cadmium plated hose clamps?

No, I don't use that junk. I use stainless worm-gear hose clamps....

One good thing about being into Corvettes; you get real involved with hose clamps (those things are even date-coded for cripes sake). Anyway, because of this, I've been saving hose clamps for years and now have a good supply of original Ford clamps. I think it was the only positive outcome I had.

Glade to hear.. I am a guy that likes everything original, but there comes a point when the junk they sell just doesn't work. I think those authentic clamps are worse than the authentic hoses.
