Generator
My generator on 31 delux roadster sits on or almost on the bottom raditor hose, is there a way to fix this problem or is this normal. Just wondering if the front motor mount springs could be weak, any one else have this problem, and/or solution!!! I have the correct belt..

Re: Generator
Sounds more like your belt is too long. With the generator all the way up towards the center of the engine, the belt should be a very tight fit to get on and off. I have to remove the generator pulley to get mine on.

Re: Generator
Mike, I have the right belt, it is hard to get on..thanks for the quick reply, just seems like the engine is setting to low and im thinking it could be weak springs on the motor mount..so..I will be replacing them and if this does the trick I will do a follow up reply!!

Re: Generator
Check the hand crank. If the hand crank lines up with the ratchet nut then the engine
is probably sitting correctly. How about some pictures? Bob |

Re: Generator
I was gonna respond and saw Bob mentioned the hand crank. That's what I was thinking.
The generator body on my A is a tad under two inches from the hose.

Re: Generator
If you have the original rear motor mounts the front mount acts like a shock, the nose of the engine does not sit on the front cross member, the bolt that goes through the cross member just floats above it at the flange.

Re: Generator
Anybody ever used the "B" style (floater) mount in front and the standard original mounts in the rear?

The float a motor mount is on the rear..I beleive the front is original [motor mount yoke] I will be putting a new front kit on tomorrow or monday..I have a few other ideas but im replacing the kit first. Something is for sure wrong, that gen. is sitting right on the hose..just at a loss!!!!

Re: Generator
As mentioned, make sure the hand crank lines up.
Do you have the correct water return pipe? The 28-9 pipe has the bend closer to the drain cock, while the 30-1 pipe has the bend close to the center of the pipe. |
