I knew a guy that made the same swap, years ago.He said it bolted right in.You'll need the car pan, timing cover, motor mounts, etc.

The 53 and the 54 uses the same frame should be no problem as long as you have all the mounts for the Y block.

I have heard that I would need to change the oil pan and pump over to the car version since this version is from a 61 f600. If the car was a 54 with the 8 cylinder...would the 292 bolt in or would I still have to change the engine mounts.

Since your 53 is a 6 cyl. car it should have the crossmember to accept y block mounts nothing could be easier.Car mounts will bolt to your truck engine.54-58or9 mts.

I put a 64 292 into my 54 Vicky--not a problem, and your frame is the same on the 53

Nope, 54 frame is totally different from 52-53. he y-block can be put into them, but will have to have fabricated motor mounts. If I remember correctly, the easiest way is to use the flat oil pan from a truck, and also the truck front motor mounts from something like a 57-60 half ton. Good luck, and good for you for keeping it FORD!
