Budd Cabs
Is the late late 31 Budd steel top cab the same as the cab ford used for the following years?

Re: Budd Cabs
There is something wrong with this cab.
It looks to me as if it is a mixture of a Model A gas tank combined with a '32 or so cab. This is NOT an All-Steel Top 1931 Budd Co. Cab. I will have to examine my '31 Budd Cab and compare it to my 1932 BB Cab. Darryl in Fairbanks |

Re: Budd Cabs
Looks like they welded a top from a 32 on, you can see the weld above the back window
on the photo showing the inside back of cab. Look at the 32 in the picture. Bob Last edited by Bob C; 08-02-2012 at 10:10 PM. |

Re: Budd Cabs
It is a Model A cab with a 32-34 Steel roof added.

Re: Budd Cabs
The engine is a hybred also -- at least has a B head & waterpump.

Re: Budd Cabs
The late '31 Budd cab is unique and different from what was used in the V8 era.
The Model A Steel Tops had a seam that runs in line with the rear door jamb up over the top from one side to the other. (the steel top is just placed on top of the cab in this picture) (a shot of the roof and specifically the integral visor) (The stamped steel top bows, specific to the Model A top. These were given to me by John Charlton in England) (Overhead shot, you can see the molding that covers the seam between the top and the rear wall of the cab. Please, forgive the whitewalls, I was young and didn't know any better) The V8 era tops curves down in the back and the seam is a few inches below the roof line on the back wall of the cab...which you can see in this picture. I'll try to take some pictures tomorrow in the daylight to show some of the other features. -Tim |
