Re: Production number question for the 55,56 guys
I've got a US made '56 Ford delivery ( Courier ) and trying to determine the same thing. I found one source stating 1808 made, but am not convinced.....

Re: Production number question for the 55,56 guys
I just recently picked up a book entitled
"The Production Figure Book for U.S. Cars by Jerry Heasley It has a count for all of the styles made EXCEPT the Courier. I"m thinking that they grouped the Courier in with all of the other 2 door body style count. Can you post the Model # on the VIN plate.Should be a 59 or 59A. Maybe I can be of futher help. Oldmics |

Re: Production number question for the 55,56 guys
I own a '55 Courier. They made about 13,000 Courier sedan-delivery wagons in '55 but I forgot where I found that info. It was in a website. I also remember from that site that they made around 33,000 Crown Victoria's in '55. So the Courier was much more rare than the Crown Vic's.

In general Sedan Deliveries are commercial vehicles and often grouped with Light Trucks for production numbers. The Ford Body code 59 (and 79) in the 1950’s referred to wagons in general, not commercial vehicles, but there was a 59E “Courier” commercial wagon back in 1959 I believe. BTW the Canadian Data Plate decodes differently than the US one. If you need help with decoding the Data plate try this site: http://www.valleycruisersnb.com/PDF/...INCodesIII.pdf |

Re: Production number question for the 55,56 guys
G`day Dave , I just found a book that I purchased years ago " Motorbooks International FORD PICKUP RED BOOK " and it has U.S 1955 Courier Production at 7754 , doesn`t break it down into sixes or eights though. Makes them just about the rarest `55 !! Production of the `56 was 8757...keep those numbers in your handy facts file.
