Default Brake Actuating Arm Fit

Hi,

Rebuilding the front end on my 1930 coupe and noticing something I have to question. The threaded stud on the brake actuating arm is 7/16" diameter. The mounting hole in the spring perch is a generous 1/2". Is this right? Seems like a lot of clearance.

Thanks,
Jerry

Extra room is needed to install the stud, as it has to swing in on an angle when the business end is installed in the king pin.
