Model A Trunk Handle Q's.....
Hello All- My situation= I've been able to acquire a Brookie deck lid for my project, and have some Q's...... First- And my pictures might not be in order=My new deck has NO holes!=Smoothie!
1)=My new deck is going to be a "trunk", not a rumble. So- with the pic of a borrowed lid- (handle hole), is this required to have the same shape hole for the mounting handle? = What I mean is the slot's on the side's and top?(outside)...are they all needed? 2) The handle I have.....It only has a lil tab protruding out of it, so wondering if this is even the correct handle at all? 3) This borrowed lid is a lil beat ....... I'de like to know if possible what the measurements are for the screws, and the latch swing are.....I can go off of the one I have for mock up, but don't want to 'wing" it.... I hope the pic's explain... I just set my new latch in for pics in the old deck..... I can clarify more if I didn't make sense here...... Thanks-Kid Last edited by INVISIBLEKID; 02-21-2016 at 06:31 PM. |

This might help. Use the search for " trunk handle location " and read the one by roadster62. Should answer your question. Not sure if it is correct but I mounted my handle pointed up when closed and to the right when open.

That's the way I did mine, too. I suggest to the InvKid that you find a better example of a trunk handle installed and take measurements from that. Try to find one the same year as yours; 28-29 may be different from 30-31 (Steve Plucker can advise you on this, I think.)

Minerva, an Early '30 trunk model coupes' lock cylinder would NOT turn. When I pointed the handle up, when locked, it WORKED. They are NOT designed to lock in all of the 4 possible directions.

Re: Model A Trunk Handle Q's.....
Ray Horton touched on it,...but I thought I'd make it clearer..ALSO look for Ray's
article....very good! Go too Steve Plucker sight...... www.plucks329s.org Steve Plucker..... then go too "additional studies" near the bottom of the page and click on it, then go too the bottom of the page,...it's in 2 parts. You will find more information on what parts work.. Dudley |
