Smile new Brake Energizer Kit question

just finished building the rear in the ole 35 and started on the brakes.
I have woven lining on the shoes and new springs.
everything is clean and ready to install but all the talk about energizer kits thought now may be a good time to install them.
I looked at Teds kit and C&G ford parts kit. last night I ordered the C&G kit.

After I ordered the kit I found Fredb had a few photos of it installed. Got me thinking how do you adjust them? will the wheel and the dust cover have to come off or is there a way to adjust them through the threaded hole?

If you have or had this kit would you recommend it?

Thanks !

I put a set on my 35 Fordor two years ago. I bought the inexpensive set that MAC's sells. They are not FH Teds design. They adjust through the threaded hole where the old adjusters use to be. I cut the wedged head off the old adjusters using an abrasive wheel cutoff machine and installed the threaded piece with square end back into the adjusting hole on each backing plate to keep dust/dirt out but still look original. I have no idea what you bought from C&G to compare with what I used. A picture of what you have might help.

I don't have them yet but sounds like you have the same thing a star wheel type.

I would guess these work good for you and adjusting is not a problem.

If memory serves, the new adjuster is not a star,it looks more like a gear but the principal is the same.A screwdriver is inserted through the hole in the backside of the backing plate for adjusting. The screwdriver tip fits between the teeth of the "gear" and can be tightened or loosened the same as a star adjuster.

You might still be able to find a Brake Spoon at Napa, but don't bother asking for one 'cause the cash register jockey won't know what you want.
