Powder coat hubs and drums?
I've got a new set of front hubs and drums ordered. Should they be painted with heat-resistant paint or can they be powder coated? If using high-heat paint is Rustoleum brand a good choice?
Thanks! |

Re: Powder coat hubs and drums?
You want to use paint made for drums or rotors. The paint should be just enough to cover but not prevent heat from dissipating. Powder coating would be too thick.

Re: Powder coat hubs and drums?
i use the high temp rustoleum and would not pc them because of the tolerances such as drum hat to wheel mating surfaces etc etc

By the way, here's a link to an older thread about this very topic. Thought it may help others with the same question. Sorry to be redundant, but I just found it:

Have not noticed any issues, and I put stuff to the test and inspect often. I will be doing my brake parts shortly without any concerns...... |

Re: Powder coat hubs and drums?
Powder coated my hubs and brake drums in 1999 and they still look like new. Never a problem with heat.
