K&N Filter Number
I am looking for the K&N Filter part number for a filter that fits the large filter sold by Synders - part number A-9600-ACC or filter number A9600-HV (See http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/mo...retor-1?page=2) From the K&N site, it looks like E-2190 based on the dimensions but I want to make sure because it is a special order. Thanks.

Re: K&N Filter Number
Chris Pelikan restores Model A carbs. This website has a lot more info than just this page.
Very Good info on air filters is just the start! http://www.model-a.org/filtering_air_into_carb.html main site: http://www.model-a.org/ |

Re: K&N Filter Number
After a search on the K&N web site and comparing dimensions with the filter on my A-9600-ACC, I believe that the K&N E-0770 filter may work. It is for a 1984-1986 Pontiac Sunbird or Buick Skyhawk. Its Fram equivalent is CA3827. The E-2190 looks like it will work also. Its Fram equivalent is CA3445. 30Tudor (or anyone else interested), you might take your filter to a auto parts store and compare it to these. I will probably do this when I get a chance. - Paul

Re: K&N Filter Number
Thanks everybody for your help. It looks like it is the E 2190 I am looking for. Interesting that the cost up here in Canada is $52 versus $32 in the states. Our dollar (US/CAD) are iis about par these days.
The thing that bothers me about the U filter is the fact it sits underneath the carb where there is a potential for a gas leak. I have been thinking of building a shield to go over top. Now some people will say you don't need a filter at all... Mike |

Re: K&N Filter Number
The typical stock model 'A' engine is hurt and shall not benefit with a filtered air cleaner. An open metal screen without a pressure drops can keep the big stuff out, like bees. No more filtering is needed. IMHO. Every 'A' engine I have ever sean run runs like poop with an air cleaner. Just the way the carb is designed 80+ years ago.
Why mess with sucess? skip. |

Re: K&N Filter Number
I had a pipe fabricated at the local muffler shop that placed the filter below and forward of the carburetor.
