I would use the John Deere corn header gearbox grease or equivalent. Ford used gear oil mixed with soda soap and that is kind of hard to source now days. Any prelube is a good idea but regular grease doesn't lubricate as well as a thixotropic type does. Centrifugal loading just throws it to the inside surfaces of the housing where it stays. Thixotropic turns to a liquid state while parts are in motion then returns to a semi-solid state when parts are at rest.
