Default 39 deluxe speedometer

I have a couple of Waltham '39 deluxe speedometers with the cast metal case rather than the more common cylindrical can type.
I wonder what the point was in them making it an option.

Ford has a long history of using different manufacturers and different manufacturing processes for parts that they either didn't produce or couldn't keep up with production for all the parts required. As long as the part fit and worked without warranty concerns, it was good to go. Ford of Canada also had their own ways of keeping up with production that were separate from Ford USA but similar in nature.

Can you post a photo of the cast case? Don't know that I have seen one before.
