Default Odd distributor housing

This looks as though it's for a model A ford engine. But it's different than any distributor I've seen.
What do I have here?

Thanks joop. So I could run that on my A without any modifications. Just not use the spark rod?

The B timing cover has the pin hole in a different location.
See the links to Vince's site. http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/timingcovers.htm

If you have trouble finding a condenser for this use a Model A condenser by elongating the hole in the tab at the end and using a short wire between the end of the condenser and the distributer. Be sure to buy a high quality condenser from a supplier like Bratton's. If I remember correctly there is a wire at the junction box of a Model A that works perfectly. As others have noted the timing pin is in a different location on the Model B timing cover so you need a Model B cover to go with the distributer or compensate for it in some other way.

That's an odd looking spark plug, what is it? Is it in an adapter?

I'm stupid when it comes to model B stuff.
What else from model A can I use on this B distributor?

You can use the cap, rotor, bakelite body, cam (although the B cam was better), the shaft to the bottom and a lot of small parts. Of course the advance mechanism is unique. The points are unique and used to be hard to find. There is an excellent blow up of the distributer on page 504 of the Green Bible. The best source for knowledge and parts is Renner's Corner, (734) 428-8424.

Yes they are Champion W 20. A good plug for the every day driver and a lot less expensive than the correct (or repro) plug. They are not in an adapter, what you see is the plug. I bought them at my local auto parts store just the other day, no wait that was 40 years ago.
