Default m121 & j80 heads

What are m121 & j80 cylinder heads ? New to me, but i aint too smart about these things. Thanks again. mike

No pics, they are for an 8ba. Look like any 8ba head but marked m121 & j80....Merc, Canadian,??? Thanks, m

Sounds like casting dates to me, but pictures sure would help.

Do you have the auction number? I'm sure that would allow someone to grab the pictures; I've done it many times.

Here's a picture. You can make out the "M121" on the bottom head. Notice the casting of the screw head. That is obviously a date code. The curious thing is that there is no model number (8BA, 8CM, EAB), so I can't tell what they are (there may be some that can, just by looking at the combustion chambers which are shown on the eBay auction). All I see is a set of junk heads that had some aluminum paint slopped on them.

Looks to me like someone ground the markings off and then painted them. The surface looks too smooth, not like a typical casting.
