Default 3 inch peep mirrors

Hello. I have a pair of Ford script, 3 inch, stainless and chrome peep mirrors. I have been told they may have been available as accessories for 1933, 34 Fords. Can anyone shed light on their application or originality? Thanks

They're not Ford released accessories for '33 or '34 and maybe never. Note that the Ford script is the modern version, slightly more upright with shorter tails, not that of the 1930s and earlier.

BOB DRAKE produced or reproduced these mirrors in modern times with the FORD script on the mirror back. The part number was 78-18414 on DRAKES boxes. A 78 part number prefix relates to the 1937 passenger cars. Not sure if they were made back in the 1930s but my guess is NO. You could buy these without the FORD script on the mirror back for a lower price. Check in the BOB DRAKE catalog. Regards, Kevin.

I like the look of them for a vintage hotrod, I have one on my 34 3W. I am always worried that due to the suicide door, with mirror mounted to the front of the door where it needs to be, that clamp on bracket is traveling with vigor when closing the door as compared to a standard front hinged door. Problem is, with a suicide door you want to be damned sure the door is shut. While I am hesitant to use the word "slam", I do make sure its shut

Thanks for the reply. I have a 1948 Jag Saloon with suicide doors. These cars are woefully lacking in rear view mirrors and lights. If my mirrors turn out to be repros, they might go on the Jag. Interesting note about the centrifugal stress from ''slamming'' the door. I will keep that in mind, and maintain the doors fit accordingly. Cheers
