Default Who makes F 150 T 170 transmission kits?

Dave Delmue quit making them. I think there were a couple of others.

I like my 4 speed OD F150 transmission.
I got mine from Tim Sheridan in Nunca, MI. His number is 616-837-6477 and his prices were good. His setup uses the stock bell housing, and doesn't have to cut the crossmember. I just cut off the upper and lower ears on the cover of the bell on the front of the drive shaft. He will also shorten the driveshaft if you want or you can have it done locally. The only other thing required was to put two washers under the brake cross shaft to lower it slightly. I went with the trans with the 3.01 first gear and middle overdrive ratio. With a bored and reworked engine, it can still pull up hills in OD. Gets a lot quieter when I put it into OD.

Thanks for the info. I have a friend that wants one. I have had one in my Tudor for 12 years and it is a great addition to an A.

I saw one on eBay the other day. I know nothing about it or these transmissions. Is this the proper one to use for a Model A? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Toploader-O...D/233889202280

I'm not interested, I have a Mitchell. I'm just the messenger...

That should be a good one since it is an RTS TOD. The code BV was from a 302 engine application and is the desired 26.7% overdrive ratio set. The price is a little on the high side but I don't know current prices of a good candidate. It just depends on how bad a person wants one and if you can trust that it is in good condition. Hard parts are getting harder to find for these units.

The BV (27.6%) code is preferred by many owners with heavy sedans, though some of the F150 lower gear ratios are similar to Model A.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between the F-150 T-170 and the T-5 transmission?

Can the adapter be used for both Transmissions?

The T-170 is a 4-speed with 4th as an OD gear and it has a turret type top shifter mechanism that is in the normal position for most earlier type transmissions. The T-5 is a 5-speed with 5th as an OD gear. The shifting mechanism is a rod type system with the shifter location farther aft the earlier design transmissions with various different locations depending on make and application for the design. The T-5 has a lot of variations. some are very robust and some are for lesser torque applications. There are a lot more parts available for the T-5 transmission types where the T-170 parts are out of production so parts are getting harder to source at this time.

Rotor wrench,

Thanks for your very good summary of the differences between the T-170 and the T-5 transmissions.
