Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera

It's all my car fault! But wish they would give a ticket to the car and not the driver!!!!!!!

I ought to know better having owned a few A's over the years. I was too excited to go on a test drive first in my new addition and decided to use the Tucson Model A meeting as my maiden voyage. I wasn't use to the brakes (NO EXCUSE) and getting the GAV adjusted (STILL NO EXCUSE). While starting to make a left on a green arrow it turned amber. The brakes would have stopped me in the middle of the intersection so I decided to continue stepping on it to get through. THEN, it sputtered just long enough to have the Camera snap my picture and I got sent a ticket.

Do you think the Judge will understand if I go for a court date?

I think you would have a VERY good chance if you point out the timing of these photographic lights is set for modern speed and reaction times.

You do not have that advantage - and the law overlooks your handicap as the best way to maximize return on the municipalities investment.

And you would like some allowance given your choice of transport and the
"variety" this brings to the roads which otherwise would have a dull sameness to them.

You might also point out this is a new car to you and you're unfamiliar with this particular car's action/reaction - which even in the best of times was not up to modern standards - and it will take you time to learn the best way to drive this car.

You may actually get a human being behind the bench - it has happened.

And this if you want to put the time into contesting (not fighting) the charge.

Your key to winning is the "inequitable application of the law" given your choice of vehicle.

The law prides itself on attempting to be "equal."

IIRC, Marshall Daut did not win his speeding ticket court case - but it made for some interesting discussion on the "other" Ford board.

It's just an embarrassing moment to add to my memoirs. Luckyal's correct it could have been a picture of an accident.............I'll also bet they could find a way to cash a picture of the check since you can now send a picture of one through a cell phone to the bank..................I sure love technology................That's why I love driving my A...

Hmmm... usually you get two pictures... one showing you about to enter the intersection with the light being red... and another with you in the intersection on the red light. Different laws in different places... but generally, if you enter the intersection on yellow... and it turns red, you are ok. Maybe some places are more detailed oriented on how they do photos...

If you started your turn on the green but was unable to clear the intersection I would believe you did not break a law. What if you were a triple trailer semi? I would argue this one in court or at least send an explanation with your remittance. Here in Oregon the police have no time to go after thieves or those causing property crimes. but they sure like that revenue from fines.

I think you should go to court with it. That's what courts are for: the accused get to tell their side of the story. The worst that can happen is they won't reduce the fine.

Best to try to fight it. Not sure about collector insurance but with standard insurance it may increase you premium.

My brother lives in Tucson and he just told me that his wife got a picture in the mail. She also made a LH turn (not with a Model A) and the stuff claimed the light was red. She went to traffic school and the instructor said "When I see the camera on the intersection, I don't turn left. I find another way." Something is isn't right.

Fight it and the judge will get a kick out of It and use the old car for leverage ............who cares if the judge gets a kick out of it and besides that the judge will say the rules aare for all and new cars ???
If you are talking a 50 dollar fine, can you substantiate a 1/2 day in court for 50 bucks ? Also sometimes when you fight it they can ad court costs.

Look up the laws. Many photo tickets are improperly issued and can be successfully overcome in court. I know in Philadelphia they have to have a clear picture of your face as they can only issue the ticket to a person

You should also check the yellow timing. Some are improperly set.

In any event you should let the politicians know what you think of the cameras.

Why sure the judge will understand .
If I were you I would ask for a jury trial, and hire the best trial lawyer in the state , it's easy to see it was clearly the cars fault ,
why should you have to pay a $50-$60 fine because of that stupid car .
It would only take about 10 to 12 mo.s to come to court and the lawyer's fee would only run about $1000-$1800, plus setting around the court house all day .
Or you could just pay the small fine, being as it was all your fault anyway .
