Default cant figure out fire to dizzy

Mallory...old Mallory dizzy advice and refurbishing? i ;have a 49 8ba that gets power into but not a lick of power coming out of it. Not to mention setting points or anything else. im also looking for a condenser. one of the old ones that has burgundy bake lite. or the replacement for it. i need to know the testing for the dizzy. As i said got power going into but not getting to plugs. any and all replies are appreciated. need suggestions as to problem with starting

I hope I am understanding your problem. You should be able to manually open/close points and get spark. Have you checked to see if the wire connected to the points has power? On Mallory dist. make sure that the point where wires come into dist. is not shorting at the insulator block. If this all checks out I would look for a bad condenser or a shorted set of points. If you hold the secondary tower wire near metal and manually operate the points you should get spark assuming the coil is good. Are you considering refurbish because of a loose shaft?

Can you post a picture of the burgundy condenser? I am having trouble determining what you are referring to.

While it may be desirable to get the correct condenser long term, for the sake of troubleshooting your problem, wouldn't virtually any condenser do the job? You could swap in the visually correct part at a later date when you are able to locate one.
