Default 1948 Coupe Weather-stripping

Hi All,

I am entering a 1948 Ford Coupe in the Hemmings Great Race and purchased the weather-stripping from Steele Rubber Products. The 1st problem is there is no weather-stripping on the car now and there are no instructions or diagrams as to how to install. I am located in South Windsor, CT and would love to visit someone who has a similar car that I could look at before I start because once you put that black goop down, it's a bear to remove. [email protected] or 860 729-5194

Thanks, Bruce

most V-8 catalogs have pics where the weatherstrip goes. maybe a Mac's or Bob Drake catalog. I assume they are the same as our '41. one on hinge side, one on latch side, one on top and a short curved one at curved section at bottom of door. I use 3M w/s adhesive. coat rubber piece evenly and thinly, coat area on door the same, let both dry to touch, recoat W/S lightly( reactivates the adhesive) and stick together. they will immediately bond. I did ours in 4-5" segments. If you're doing with doors on the body the hinge side is a b***h!

Here's what the clips on my doors look like. Two per door.

I was short one and my kid grabbed a couple extras, when he was out and about.

If I get near my doors I will get another picture where the are located.

The Dennis Carpenter site has diagrams for the individual seal pieces.
