2 speed speedometer adapter gear
I foolishly broke one of the fiber gears in the Stewart Warner speedometer adapter in my 36. I know there are many different ratio's that were used over the years. - I had another later model adapter and looked at the gears and they are different diameters/ ratios. - I thought this was the 1:1 side and they would all be the same but apparently not
a few questions: - is there a chart somewhere with the gears / ratios / dimensions for these adapters ? - is there anyone out there that I can contact that might have gears available ? would appreciate any help thanks Chris |

Re: 2 speed speedometer adapter gear
That is interesting, helical gear on one end and a spur gear on the other. If you don't find an original gear, that part may be able to be reproduced on a 3D printer reasonably.

Re: 2 speed speedometer adapter gear
What I have done in the past is make a mould of the gear by pressing it down on a block of clay. Then pull the gear out and rotate it so the broken section will be in the mould where the mould has the teeth. Then pour the broken section with JB Weld and let it cure. Some final filing will need to be done to clean it up. Just make sure the part is clean and free of any oil or grease. Been running one like that for twenty years.
