Default Monarch hubcaps

I picked a couple of Monarch hubcaps that came on 15” rims. Did Canadian monarchs have 15” rims? These cap fit my 16” rims no problem. Still have to find a couple more.

I believe that 47-48 Mercs did have 15" rims. Good find ion the hubcaps. they are rare and very desirable. I'd love to have a set.

The 46-48 Monarch's had these hubcaps. Hard to find even repairable ones.

To answer 36coupe's question, the 1946-1948 Monarch's came standard with 15" Wheels, just like the similar year Mercurys. The Monarch is quite often referred to as a Ford Monarch, as they were sold in the Ford Dealers, but officially, they were known just as Monarch. Similarly, the same year Meteor which was sold in Mercury Dealers is not a mercury Meteor, but just plain Meteor.

The Canadian set up was unique in the world of Ford automobiles. They couldn't re-badge a car under a different marques name, ie a Ford could not be re-badged under the Mercury name and visa versa. The answer was the different names altogether such as Monarch & Meteor.

Hi CoolCoupe, Unfortunately, the Monarch Sedan Coupe is not mine. It resides over 1000 miles from me down in Victoria. I took this photo at an Australian Early Ford V8 Nationals.

They used to appear on eBay. I think Vintique reproduced them for a while .
I think there is a set on eBay now.

Thank you for clarifying that. It really grates on my nerves when I see ads for "Mercury Meteors" or Mercury Monarchs. And yes, my book says 15 inch wheels on the Mercury (or Monarch) and 16 inch on the Fords for 47.

Can't resist; Please remember the 114X also. My early built '48 [Nov'47] came with 16' wheels and a '47 type column ign switch. Newc

I see you are at the other end of the province. I’m in Windsor and if you see a set of 15 rims or a monarch lion hubcap for sale I’m interested.
