Default 9T cylinder heads...

Acquired some model T, A and early V8 parts and barnstuff noticed that the pair of center coolant outlet cylinder heads were cast with a 9T @ the top right for both.

None of my books show these and wondering what year/model they might be for, any input would be great.

I just had a round with a set of 99T heads , they were N.O.S. I C.C.D them at eighty c.c.s, and on further examination I noticed they were drilled wrong as far as the bolt holes being thin and even had openings in the bolt holes to the water jackets to the tune of 5 bolt holes being bored through, that was a good reason to return them to the seller for a refund, there were 99T Canadian heads used, and I didn't know there were a Canadian high compression head offered, so check your chambers c.c .

Got the heads today and they are spoken for to get a WW II truck back on the road, makes it all worth rescuing from the scrap yard. 99T 6049 and 6050 on the back.

The 99 heads were introduced in 1939 for the larger 3 3/16 truck engines and did have a larger chamber. They were probably used on the Mercury engine also.

In my research I found a ford motor company bulletin for the modification of the water holes, to avoid overheating.

A chart I have lists the 99T heads at 91 cc's! That is by far the largest on the list. It gives the compression ratio on a standard bore 239 engine as 5.89 to 1. There's absolutely no reason to run these heads! 59A heads are 76 cc's and give 6.76 compression which will perform better, give better mileage and run fine on today's gas.

I agree with previous post. The 9T heads are a terrible selection except for a big engine on supercharged nitro.

A higher compression will make more power and allow the engine to run cooler while getting better gas mileage. The 59A heads would be a good start.

Any chance you could scan that and post the pic.
Be a good reference for those with the early heads.
Martin.
