Default Help! will rear fenders interchange between '38-'39 to a '40-'47 Panel

Will 1938-1939 Ford Panel fenders fit on a 1940-1947 Panel truck? It's a one-ton, but I don't think that makes any difference. Does anyone know for sure?

I am almost certain that the answer is no, I have to go see Dennis from Arkansas' panel pictures and take a hard look at mine. I'll be back!

Well, I can half answer your question, maybe, Dennis has I believe a 41 panel, it really looks as if the 38 39 rear fenders will physically bolt on, aside from the belt line our trucks are very similar. In 42 they did a redesign, not much looks like it will bolt on and if it did the whole line looks like it changed so it may not look good.

I have a 1/2 ton '40 model panel. In '42 the right rear fender changed. It no longer had the indent for the spare tire. Not sure if '38-'39 rear fenders will work on a '40-'41. My rears are off now so I can take all the measurements/pictures you need for a comparison. Dennis/Arkansas

According to the Ford Green "Bible" 1938-1941 rear fenders for the Commercial Panel are the same. They have the same part #'s. Panels on the truck chassis have a different prefix before the #.

1938-41 1/2 ton Panel rear fenders are the same. A pickup rear fender can be trimmed on the inside to make a panel fender. 1942-47 panel fenders are different, and a pickup fender cannot be simply trimmed, as the fender is about 2" taller at the back.
