Vacuum line break question
I just dicovered, after 2 years of driving that there is a break in the vacuum line running from the intake manifold up to the wiper "motor". It is broken up above the windshild frame, difficult to see. Don't drive it on rainly days.
Question: Has this "open" vacuum line caused any engine damage or performance issues? I intend to plug the port on the intake manifold immediately. Thanks guys/girls again for your input, wisdom and advice. |

Re: Vacuum line break question
Your idle would be leaned a bit, but it wouldn't cause any engine damage. It must not have been leaned enough to notice, or you'd have noticed it a long time ago, so I wouldn't worry about it other than to fix it or plug the intake port.

Re: Vacuum line break question
As far as performance issues go, you will find out as soon as you drive it after plugging the vacuum port.
As far as engine damage goes, you have no doubt set the carb idle mixture recently so would have compensated for the vacuum leak at idle. If you are a typical 'A' guy, you adjust the gas/air valve as you drive to get the best performance/economy. So you would be compensating for the vacuum leak at higher speeds, too. Most likely no harm has been done. A compression check wiill set your mind at ease. |

You are correct Bill, it is a rubber hose. |
