CHEEZE ! Have you ever been to Daytona, during Bike-Week ? There are ALL kinds of bikers, who come in. We do get the "Yuppies", the "Rubbies" and PLENTY of the "long haired, bearded, grease ball types" !

Another thought... Buy or borrow a front tool box that fits in front of the splash apron and in back of the front bumper... to add weight use sacks of sand or concrete to help even the weight a bit.

Hey I went 29 years straight to Bike Week. From 1975 to when ever, but
it just got to commercial for me. I've stayed in cottages and houses on the beach, motel and hotel rooms on the beach. Camping out next to the Cabbage Patch with a group of people on Pans and Knucks only, etc., etc. One of the best times was at an old, virtually closed down, fish camp in Ponce Inlet near the light house and next to a restaurant/bar. They rented some cottages for us special during the 50th Anniversaty Bike Week. It was like going back into time at this place. It had not changed since the 50's! I'm sure Bike Week is still a fun time. But, it will never have the wild west=let the good times roll aura like it once had..........

That is a lot of sag for that amount of weight in that truck.I put five 100 pound bags of sandblast sand in my A regularly,it doesn't do anything near that.I only drive it from the brickyard to my garage,about 3 miles.On top of that I use an 8 leaf coupe spring hoping to get a better ride out of the pickup.I live 30 miles from Laconia and years ago I used to go to the races there,then it went from just the races to a week long party.Roadside camping was allowed,just turn off the pavement on 106 and set up your tent.We call it bike week here too,and the cops are very active from the week before until a couple of weeks after.They're really pretty good about it,unless you are acting like an A hole you get checked out and sent on your way.It only takes a few idiots to keep them busy.Loud pipes are a huge source of revenue during bike week.Unless you have straight pipes a loud exhaust ticket is a pretty simple thing to beat.There are too many variables in roadside testing to stand up in a court battle.BUT,you have to go to court if you want to fight it and most of the tickets are written to out of state bikes.It's cheaper for them to pay it.

A WR is a 45" machine much lighter than a Panhead. But your Panhead should be an easy load for your pickup.

That is the dumbest idea I have ever heard. Why place more weight on the suspension?

It's done to make the ride better, or in the winter to give better traction, but I also would rather remove a leaf or two to give the truck a better ride. First clean and lube the spring to see how it rides. That alone made a world of difference in my 29 Tudor.

In preparation for the World Tour...we added an additional second leaf (next to the main leaf) front and rear to help stablize the load. It worked great, however when we returned home and removed all the extra weight...the ride was stiff,so we removed the secondary leaf. My "dumb idea" was to reduce the rear end drag a bit. Which would help for a short term trip. Steering stability is very important !!
