Chrome
Looking for a company that rechromes.
I have a windshield frame for my 36 cabriolet that needs rechroming. My other alternative is finding one with good quality chrome. So if You or somebody you know has a good frame please let me know Before I rechrome mine. Does anybody have an idea what it would cost To rechrome a frame? Maybe a good used one is the way to go. Looking For guidance. Thanks, Tony. |

Re: Chrome
Hi; just a note. I found that the original chrome process did chemical damage to the windshield frames internally and my 34's frames showed this at the joints. the standard frames [painted] were better for chroming. Just inspect your original carefully and try to neutralize existing internal rust, as there are no standard cabriolets. Newc

Re: Chrome
I used Sandy's Bumper in Syracuse for chroming recently. They do a street chrome. Parts look good. Show chrome by request. Email them a photo and they will give you a price.

Re: Chrome
Librandi's at the Harrisburg, Pa airport does really nice work. '48 Ford-2 bumpers, 4 guards, four bumper extensions and a grille guard--$2500.00 + $150.00 tax.

Re: Chrome
Quality chrome plating is expensive. It requires a lot of steps and is labor intensive plus the materials used are expensive.

And the environmental controls to manage the heavy metal wastewater aren't free.
