Well ebay is now offering alternatives to Paypal.

havent tried them, but may be better?

Venmo is one- dont know its strong or weak points.........

I also dont like PPL having access to my credit cards, so I too have to wait 21 days for payment. The reason I no longer sell on ebay-except for cars, which dont require Paypal. I only accept wire or cash.

I use Venmo all the time, but it is owned by PayPal. Some banks have their own services. There is a limit to the amount some of these services can transfer. Venmo is one of them.

Check their web site. Most people sell with small down and cash on delivery or pickup. You can list the first 5 cars for free.

eBay and PayPal split the sheets at least 5 years ago. I’ve Bought and sold thousands of dollars worth of stuff using PayPal with no issues. There are rules and fine print using this service. I understand those rules and play by them.

FYI....Elon Musk founded PayPal

it costs about 125. to sell a car on ebay
after the first 6 free listings, the price is 50. to sell a car- you are chged that price regardless if your car sells or not and every time you repeat the listing.

I got ripped off through people buying with my credit card. Pay Pal was the method used in several of the transactions. At first it was 4 cents a couple of times, then 36 and so on until the middle of September I got hit for about 3500. I went to Chase to dispute those
charges and was told they are working on getting 50 cents back but the 3500 is outside of the 60 days, so that is gone. Called pay pal fraud and they said they were just the medium of exchange, so sorry. Going to my attorney general at present and 7 on your side, Not much hope for either to give a rip really.

Chase, Wells Fargo, and the other "too big to fail" banks have only their own interest at heart. Do not expect anything resembling ethical, fair, customer service from them. That's not how they became too big to fail.

I bank at a local credit union and my Visa card is through them. If I drive to California and don't tell them I'm going, I get a call from them after fueling in Oregon to insure everything is all right. I get the same buyer protection from them that I get from PayPal. If I have a false charge on my statement, they credit me and charge it back to the retailer for not checking closely enough. If I receive a bad or no part through an internet retailer it is also credited to me and charged back to the vendor if I get no satisfaction myself from the vendor.

Vote with your pocketbook. Go with a local bank that differentiates from the big guys by actually taking care of you.

Well Dick,
not to disagree- but chase has been wonderful to me. I have used some smaller credit card cos with very poor results.

Chase has always backed me all the way and never called anything Ive said into question. Their Saphire card is phenomenal. The phone never rings more then 3x and a human voice is on the other end taking supreme care of me.

not like the muzak of most.................!

I'm with a large Credit Union now. Several folks on another egroup have told me horror stories about Chase. I'm sure all banks are about the same. I'm in the process with the Ca. Attorney General and Seven on Your Side at the moment. See where that goes. I just shot off a letter that I'm not contesting anything that took place before the first of September. That ought to bunch up somebodies shorts, probably mine included, but old folk have time to be a pain and perhaps the bank will tire of me and send some goon over with an extra hundred dollars and tell me to shut up? who Knows.

I was with a good small bank until they got bought out by a bigger bank and closed all offices in Minnesota.
I had to deal with Wells Fargo to settle my mom's estate, and I'd never have anything to do with them.

The chase sapphire card is way above the rest. they cover everything and as mentioned-answer your call immed.

I had a problem a few years back in WA state. Company that sells platinum took 10k from me and never sent my plat.
contacted the attorney general and they did absolutely nothing.
after 6 months to the day-got my refund. I threatened to come out to WA from NJ to get my money. Apparently this co does this regularly and uses your money. They are never in trouble with it, because I guess it is within the laws of WA state.

Davey is using his credit union and hopefully gets good results, but without the buffer of a credit card during your purchase, you really are up sh-ts creek if paying by cash.

davymc29, I don't get this $3,500 hit that you took. I may be mistaken but here in New Jersey if someone commits a fraud with your credit card even if you are negligent about reporting it your only liability can be $50. Fraud is fraud, how can they hang a 60 day limit on it and then say they are not responsible? Please, if someone in New Jersey knows something else about this let's hear it.
I looked this up and I appear to be correct for credit cards, but debt cards are different, for debt cards it says that after 60 days of not making the institution aware of your losses you may be responsible for the whole amount.
