I agree that the bats in the shop are a problem but look into how important bats are before advocating exterminating them. Figure out how they are getting in and seal the entry point off.

Time to build a "bat room" for the bat urinal, sink, and commode!

Actually, if you can keep them outside, they eat a lot of bugs, including those that bite!

Back in 1970 before I got drafted I used to scuba dive with a former Navy Seal who said that you could make an explosive device with bat guano and motor oil with the right ignition source. Don't know if he was BS'n me or not BUT bat guano is similar to ammonium nitrate and motor oil is kin to diesel fuel so who knows.

i had a bad bat problem in my pole barn for a couple years. yes, they piss on everything! finally i found where they were living, in a vertical stack of plywood up on my mezzanine storage area. the stack was not tight together, and where they could get between the sheets, they called it home. first i left the big doors open all night for them to go out and eat mosquitoes, then closed them just before sunrise. then, once the flock was down in size i had to get brave enough to go move the plywood. only a few remained, but there were lots judging from the pile of poop. since i closed down the nest, they have not returned.

They eat lots of mosquitoes, around here they encourage building bat housing to keep them around. I would come up with a method that removes them from your shop without harming them if possible.

We used to catch hem when we were kids, baseball with cloth around it and a fishing net. Throw the ball in the air and when they chase after it catch them in the net!

I had bats that crawled up behind the corrugated steel siding on a shed. I could hear them scratching on the steel. Some old gas in a hand spray jug got rid of them. All I had to do was squirt it up between the siding and the eave and the bats came flying out in less than ten seconds. By the next day even the little ones were gone. Gas or naptha works well but the old gas is free. Obviously you have to use your brain and not spray where there could be a fire hazard.
That method works well to drive snakes out of the area too.

When it comes to snakes in the shop, I always liked the way an old-time "H.A.M.B.er" got rid of them. He said he'd go out in the shop in the evening and spread several dozen Viagra pills around the shop areas they frequented. The next morning, he'd go out and pick up the snakes and stack them in the garbage can to be oicked up later in the day.

To get rid of the bats in my shop I used bird netting tacked to the fascia board on the edge of the roof. The netting hangs down about 6’ from the bottom of the fascia and covers all the openings into the shop. When the bats flew out they hit the netting and fell to the ground then went on their way. When they came back the next day the netting stopped them from getting back in. Had to hang some fishing weights at 5’ intervals to keep the net from blowing up on the roof when the wind came up. The bats got the message that they weren’t welcome in the shop. Also built and put up two bat houses away from the shop and the house to encourage them to keep feeding on the mosquitos and moths. So far its been a win win for both bats and humans.

another fun tid bit learned from a friend, bats can not get airborne from a standing start, they need to "free fall' a bit to get some air speed for flight. so, if you find they are getting in some hole in your siding you hang a bucket of water beneath the hole for them to crash into and drown. i agree though, they are good to have around, just not in your buildings

Don't ask the joker, the penguin or mr. freeze. They've been trying for years and got nowhere.
