I think the '37 Ford Cabriolet/Roadster is one of the most beautiful Ford body styles of all time. Here's a couple photos of my favorite recently built '37 Cabriolet/Roadster of all time. It's a real '37 Roadster built by crew at Roy Brizio Shop and debuted back in 2008.

I remember seeing the car on Ebay where I think it was where it sold, as I think I remember it was all Ford mayby a Y block or later like a 351? Notice the rare Genuine Ford locking hood ornament, he also had his own idea for a gas fill door that I prefer original over,but man I would have loved to have owned it.

I am pretty sure the "ugly" comments started in the early street rod days, as back then no one (street rodders) wanted a '37/38 ford anything.
For me, it's kinda come full circle. The '37s are all so over-street rodded that they are boring. Bleh. But whenever I see a stock one or a nice traditional hot rod, I always stop to check it out. The '38s have always been the lowest of the low on the desirability level of the pre-war Fords. I don't know why... I think they are a great design.

I can remember when I bought a 37 coupe back in the late 50's, early 60's ($75 !), thought it was an ugly duckling. Never really liked them, and now in the past 6-10 yrs they're everywhere and not as ugly as they used to be. Maybe because there are so many of them now, or so it seems. JMO

Unfortunately I don't have any more pictures at hand. The one I posted makes the car look better than it really is. The car really needs a full restoration. It is currently housed in the back of my father's garage and not driveable. Most of the glass is original and completely fogged by now. I took this picture to put into a local car club calendar several years ago and pushed the car out of and back into the building in the background of the picture. The interior is a mess. Someone recovered the seat, door panels, and headliner in black vinyl. The original woodgrain is pretty much worn off. The rear package tray area is completely missing allowing a spare set of running boards to be stored in the truck! The car is pretty solid though and should restore nicely. The only big rust I currently know about is the tool tray in the trunk is gone.
The best place I know of to get good interior shots of a '38 is the Early Ford V8 Club '38-'39 book. I think it is very well written. Manual, the Oliver is a 1951 model 77 with the diesel engine. Thanks. |

thanks for that, I do have the 38-39 book.
In Australia we had locally assembled 37 & 38 Club Coupes in both standard and Deluxe, as well as 37-40 Roadsters and Club Convertibles, the 39 & 40 Roadsters and Convertibles used 38 bodies with the 39 cowl section. Coupes for 39 & 40 were a tudor type sedan with a swoopier roof line, affectionately known as "slopers", because of the sloping roof. |
