Shift lever position / modification
The driving experience in my 38 is generally superb; however, the shift lever is just too close to my thigh in the first gear position - at 6’5” and 20 stone, not much I can do on my end. Any non-destructive / easily reversed work arounds out there ? Thank you,

Re: Shift lever position / modification
Not easily reversed, the shift lever has to be removed and heated red hot at the base and bent slightly. It's not a hard job but would have to replace the lever with another to get it back to original.

Re: Shift lever position / modification
It might be possible to bend it cold if you could position it suitably in a press. I suspect heating and bending will be easier.

Re: Shift lever position / modification
I measured how much I wanted to move mine. I put it in a vise and clamped a piece of angle iron to indicate where I wanted to bend it.
I heated and bent it. Turned out just right John

Re: Shift lever position / modification
I would check the slot and pin fit on the ball section of the lever. A rebuild of that area may solve your problem. Just worth a look to see how worn it is. DO BE CAREFUL TO NOT DROP THE PIN IN THE SHIFT TOWER !! jm2cw. kerk
