No one offers a kit specific for the 49/51 Mercury cars. The design is by Gemmer so most parts do cross over to certain other Ford/Gemmer types. The sector shaft and roller is Mercury only so I hope yours is in good condition. I see them on Flea-Pay now and then so there are good ones still out there. The sector shaft bushings are shared by some of the Ford trucks so they are out there also. The bearings and cups are same as Ford. The worm is same as earlier Ford cars and F1 pickups but the steering shaft is specific to 49/51 Mercury so a person has to have the tools to install a new one. Gaskets are same as some early Ford Boxes but you have to match them up by eye (shape). If it looks the same it usually is.

I've rebuilt several 51 Merc steering gears and generally need the worm gear (or complete shaft assembly), seal, gaskets, and the sector shaft bushings P/N 7RT-3576-A. I have been fortunate enough to find NOS steering shaft assemblies with worms so far.

I've read that Ford F1 Pickup worm gears will work, but they have to be pressed onto the Mercury shaft and they have to be heated to about 350 degrees f in hot oil before pressing.
