Default Radial tires

Need to put tires on my 35 roadster and was thinking about the Diamond back radials. If I want a little fatter looking tire than the 600/16 ,what would be the best size in a radial.? Has someone done this ? Would I need to use tubes with the radials On the wire wheels?

I recently replaced the bias ply 6.50x16 tires on my '40 with 225/75R16 radials from Diamond Back and am very pleased with them. No tubes required for my rims. Call Diamond Back (888-922-1642) and they can answer all your questions. Nice folks to deal with.

Due to my budget, I went looking through the discard pile of my friend's tire shop for tires. The closest I could come were 205/16s'. Even those were uncommon. 215/16s' are easy to find as they came on many new cars. From experience I can tell you these will make your steering a little harder at slow speeds. I would love to have some 16X6.00s'. Just cannot justify the cost at this time. Coker's seem to run about 180.00 ea. and then there are tubes. I can live without them for a while. I run tubeless and it's all good. Just have your tire man put rim sealant on them and you will be fine. Good luck with your search.

They are going to have a 650/ R16 coming out in January to replace the 600/16 bias tire.also they are using a 195/ 80 R16 to replace the 600/16 bias. Can't figure which would be the larger or fatter tire.Think the car would look a little better if wheel well was filed out.

Diamond Backs' catalog tells how to determine tire sizes. Great information. Example: 195/80 R16 : 195 mm tread width/side wall, 80% of the tread width, R (Radial) 16" rim.

Your rims are only about 4 1/2" wide aren't they. I don't think your going to have much choice in radials??

Diamondback radials are the only way to go for wide whitewalls. I wouldn't mess with Coker tires anymore.

Talkwrench has a good point with rim width. Is there a good rule of thumb for radial tire width for given rim sizes?

I'm running Diamondback radials with tubes on my stock wide five rims and like them so far. The folks there were very friendly and helpful.
