1930 Sport Coupe finally!!
Finally put it on the rollback and took it to my shop. It's sit in my dad's garage for atleast five years and not been cranked, probably closer to ten if not more. You know how time gets away.. It's in pretty solid shape but as always you keep finding things, j shape in front fender that's welded underneath. It's a little rusty in the rear underneath but looks like just surface rust. I'd say if disassembled there's probably more serious rust. But it stays dry and won't hit the road salt while I'm custodian.
It's fun and brings back memories I didn't even know I had, my grand dad with old parts in his little out building with dirt floor that was his workshop. Stumbling over old frames that were covered up by weeds and asking my dad "what's this"? Oh, that's an old model (t) (a) frame, rear end, body. The stuff wasn't that special then as poor folks had used up what they thought was the useful life of it and they wanted something new and trouble free.. Ha! I don't know about you fellows but I feel a connection with the past that's very satisfying with this car. I've learned a few things,,, it's a 1930 sport coupe with an engine assembly number A4331520. I'm getting February of 1931????? Title number doesn't match but it's close with a433----- The cross rail in front of the seat is marked NK1535, assembled in Norfolk Va?? Not sure what 1535 signifies? Since I have you here I will ask one more question,,,,,,, what is the threaded looking thing behind the bearing? It looks like it's bent just a little. |

I couldn't post the photo of it, not sure why. It's behind the inner front wheel bearing. I'll try and post a photo later if I can figure out what's wrong. Might be image size and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to resize on the iPad.

Finally got it resized. It looks like it's threaded and is larger diameter than the back of the bearing.

First of all it is not threaded...it is pressed onto the spindle.
In the repro parts books it is refered to as "Front Axle Inner Dust Ring". Pluck |

Below is a url address for Brattons parts which shows all of the front end.
If you are talking about the part with the four bolts it is a "front brake grease baffle" but if you are talking about the part that is to the inside of that it is part of the front spindle. |

thats a gem. beautiful car. I had cracks on all four fenders

The NK 1535 is a production number. We feel they are for each assembly plant and are probably by body style. We believe they stamped the digits sequentially starting in late 1927 with number one for each body type. In 1930 they probably reverted back to number one for each body style and continued through the end of Model A production in 1931. The Norfolk assembly plant made 3,303 Sport Coupes in 1930, so it appears yours was assembled around mid year. Does it have an oval or round speedometer?

They were the hottest thing going at Model A introduction |

I want to repair/replace anything relevant to it’s safe operation, maybe weather stripping and worn out welting or the like. I want to drive it on some 50-100 mile trips like on the Blue Ridge parkway maybe to Boone NC ( home of the App state mountaineers) (you Michigan Wolverine fans know who that is ). I do not plan on restore as I don’t have the money to put into it. I don’t want to hurt it’s value or condition though.
