40 engine temperature drop by 20 degrees

What size of a piece metal is needed ? I am missing something here, diagram maybe ? Thanks for your patient.

A little larger than a penny, you are covering a penny size hole. It can be any size that makes you happy as long as it covers the hole. I have never done it this way, I use a plug in the hole.

I used some tin shims with ears so I can pull them out with the intake loose. I don't drive in the winter here. Installed them in florida the last time I pulled the engine to do some body work. It will decrease heat to the carb that was not needed in hot climates. Certainly with today gas. Have not removed them since I moved.



Takes about 10 minutes or so for the carb to warm up enough to help atomize (with air) the fuel. in mn anyway. I just have to use a little choke till it warms up. and it will warm up.


I'll probably pull the intake in a yr or two and check valves for the fun of it. I'll see if the tin held up.
