Default water pump failure

We rolled toward home in a 4 ship from the military days at Oatlands historic home and Gardens. Just before the 15/50 turn about there was a “ Thuuummp/swoosh/spatter/spatter/tinkle/swoosh/squeal”!!!
Right away I thunk it was my clock overspeeding...
I swooped on the cindered area by the BBQ stand, just as they were wrapping up... well no dinner there. Leo Cummings stopped with me. I shut the engine down and inspected everything. Some water around a water pump. Pressure in the radiator. water in the radiator. nuthin burnin/nuthin smokin/ nuthin boilin... I thought maybe I went thru the pickup Mach...

So we decided it was them noise fairies and Leo followed me home: no more problems.
Leo is the man of the day for his welcome help.

What happened? The radiator had pressure when we got home. Bearing seized and then released?

Thanks. I tells it like I sees it, or in this case hears it. It was an awful noise. We really thought it was trailer-time or to run home on one pump.

I try to write for your ears and mind so as you will feel like you were part of the action.

you do understand that my clock is installed on the right front hubcap, right?
