Hi there, Optima red top 6 volt. Heaps of cranking power, 800 amps. Holds its charge for long periods without being charged, good in cars that sit around without being used much. Have to fabricate a carrier or clamp to mount it as it does not fit the normal size ford battery carrier. Lasts up to 10 years or more as a rule. Regards, Kevin.

An Optima Red top 6 volt in a stock looking Early Ford Case. Love it. Will buy another when this one needs replacement. C&G Ford Parts.

Optima 6V red top. No acid corrosion, Can be mounted in any direction or position. can be mounted in Model 68 box with a little ingenuity. That's all I have used for years.

Optima 6V Red Top. The lowest price that I have found is from Amazon.com with free shipping. I make special battery box mounts that clamp into the existing stock '35-'36 battery box and also lowers the battery about 1-1/2". My cars are mainly drivers so I don't try to disguise these batteries in an original looking case since they are under the floor and out of sight anyway.

I like the sound of that but when I see this combination for sale from the parts houses they say the battery protrudes below the bottom of the ford case by an inch. Not sure how that would look ?

I've seen several of those conversions that a guy here in town does , and the battery fits in the case just fine.

Junk yard, they usually have a few good ones, rarely have any trouble with them, and for 10 bucks they start the engine.

I just put an Optima 12V Red Top battery in my modern pickup truck to replace a very well known brand conventional lead acid battery that failed after only two years. That was the third lead acid battery that I put in this truck in about 8 years. It will be interesting to see how long the Optima 12V will last.
